It certainly sounds like a great idea to play poker professionally, but only a small percent of poker players are actually profitable which means you’re going to need to be a lot better then average. You will also need some luck if you expect to make it as a pro poker player because without some luck you’re bounds to go on losing streaks.
In order to become a pro poker player you’re going to need to make enough money to support your current lifestyle. So if you make $4K a month then you’re going to need to make at least that much at poker or else you’re better off working where you’re currently working. If you’re only making $2K right now then you might stand a better chance at making it professionally. Often the players with the best chance are the ones who are young and single because they only need to worry about supporting themselves.
If you have a family to support then trying to support them by playing everestpoker isn’t the smartest decision and you can’t really make the commitment because poker still is gambling. Playing poker everyday becomes very tiresome and stressful for most players because when you start playing everyday you’re going to run into bad streaks some months that you can’t seem to pull out of. The other players will also start to get to know your playing style if you play at the same casino everyday so you need to keep this in mind as well.
There are lots of responsibilities in order to become a pro poker player and you need to make sure you’re very committed. You will need to make sure that you wake up every morning and play poker until you reach your quota for the day or until you’ve become tired. Some days you might play 12 hours and not be up any money which can kill your motivation. Depending on where you live you will also need to keep track of your winnings and losses because you need to pay taxes in some countries as a professional poker player.
If you’re thinking about becoming a pro poker player I would suggest that you spend a year or two saving up money and playing a lot of poker while keeping your job to see how you do. If you consistently make money over the year then you could give it a shot, but if you’re either not making money or you’re already bored then you know that this isn’t the career for you. When you’re playing poker for entertainment you obviously want to make money, but you don’t need to make money. When you begin playing poker as your job you need to make money and it can take a lot of the fun out of playing the game unless of course you’re winning a ton of money, but this isn’t the case for 99% of poker players.
